Recall of BABYBJORN® Feeding Spoons

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Name of Product: BABYBJRN® Feeding Spoons

Units: About 33,000

Importer/Distributor: BabySwede LLC, of Cleveland, Ohio

Hazard: After extended use, the soft plastic tip on the feeding spoon can loosen and break off, posing a choking hazard to young children.

Incidents/Injuries: No incidents have been reported in the United States. BabySwede has received 11 reports of the plastic loosening on the spoons in other countries. No injuries have been reported.

Description: The recalled feeding spoons were sold under the brand name “BABYBJORN,” which is printed along the front side of the spoon’s handle. The spoons were sold in one package containing two spoons. The spoons are about 6-1/2 inches in length, with a soft, flexible plastic tip sold in two color combinations: blue/red or green/yellow.

Sold at: Specialty juvenile product stores, catalogs and Internet sites from January 2001 through November 2006 for about $9.

Manufactured in: Sweden

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled feeding spoons and contact BabySwede LLC to receive a refund or replacement spoons.

Recall of Baby 2 Pack Pacifiers

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Name of Product: “Baby 2 Pack” Pacifiers

Units: About 3,600 packages of two pacifiers.

Importer/Distributor: KI, also known as Kole Imports, of Carson, Calif.

Hazard: The pacifier’s nipple can easily detach from the guard, posing a serious choking hazard to young children.

Incidents/Injuries: None reported.

Description: The recalled pacifiers are rubber nipples attached to a white or light blue plastic guard. The cardboard packaging has a picture of a baby, some toy blocks, a toy train engine and a diaper pin with a bear on it. The pacifiers are sold in packs of two. Writing on the front of the packaging includes, “Baby,” “2 pack Pacifiers” and “BI194.” The back of the packaging has an American flag and the writing, “AN AMERICAN COMPANY.”

Sold at: Discount dollar stores nationwide from August 2005 through March 2006 for about $1.

Manufactured In: China

Remedy: Consumers should take the recalled pacifiers away from babies immediately and contact the retailer where they purchased the pacifiers or KI for a full refund.

Recall of Mountain Buggy Jogging Strollers

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Note: This expansion of the Sycamore Kids Inc. jogging strollers recall announced July 2005 and November 2005 involve units previously repaired under earlier recall announcements.

Name of Product: Mountain Buggy Urban Single and Urban Double, Breeze Strollers

Units: About 4,000

Distributor: Sycamore Kids Inc., of Fort Collins, Colo.

Hazard: The handlebar can crack or break causing the handlebar to detach while in use, posing a risk of injury to young children.

Incidents/Injuries: Sycamore Kids has received 49 reports of the handlebars either cracking or breaking when the stroller was pulled up or taken down stairs. This resulted in five reports of bruises and scrapes.

Description: The recalled strollers have a metal frame and a cloth seat with a sun canopy. The strollers were sold in a variety of colors including: midnight blue, navy, red, black, silver and orange. A metal plate above the footrest shows the Mountain Buggy logo with “Mountain Buggy,” and “Urban,” or “Breeze” written underneath on the metal plate. The recalled Mountain Buggy Urban Single strollers have item number U1204-002, and serial numbers between 000000 and 015276. The recalled Mountain Buggy Urban Double strollers have item number U2204-002, and serial numbers between 000000 and 009221. The recalled Mountain Buggy Breeze strollers have item number B1204-001, and serial numbers between 000000 and 000191. The serial number and model number are on the back of the metal plate.

Sold at: Juvenile furniture retailers and baby product stores and Web retailers nationwide from December 2004 through September 2005 for between $400 and $640.

Manufactured In: New Zealand

Remedy: Contact Sycamore Kids to find an authorized repair center to receive a free replacement handlebar ratchet.
