Description: This is a soft baby carrier with a chest strap and belly strap, that can be worn on the front, back, or side. It has a sun flap that can be used to shelter baby from the sun or when they are small and asleep, to keep their head from flopping over. It also has two pockets on the outside, and mine came with a “daysack” that can be filled and attached to the carrier itself. There is also an optional infant insert, which I did not purchase.
Review: I already had several baby carriers – two hard baby backpacks, a Maya wrap sling, an Infantino baby carrier that can be worn a few different ways, and the old standby Snugli
… But after hearing from other moms how great the ergo was, I finally decided to plop down my birthday money on yet one more baby carrier.
After six children, I guess I’m becoming a connoisseur! And this one really was worth the rave reviews. Even without the infant insert (I swaddled baby and lay him in the same way you would using the insert), it was useful from the beginning. But now that baby Uly is six months old, it is one piece of baby equipment that I really need. After a weekend of hiking, house hunting, visiting, I forgot the ergo in the car that my husband took to work, and my back hurt from *not* using the ergo.
Baby is happy on my back; I get to use both hands to deal with my other little ones, my house, homeschool. I love the little sunshade, and I love how secure baby feels on my back. This was well worth the money for a well made, well thought out product!

Description: A hospital-grade double electric breast pump with electrical cord and battery pack.
Review: Great electric pump. Much better than hand held ones! Quite a bit faster. Lets you adjust the suction level and speed for maximum comfort. Does well at expressing all of your milk in not a lot of time. If you plan to be away from your baby frequently, definitely spend the extra money on this pump versus a handheld! The battery pack also makes it convenient to travel with if needed. You can even pump in the car on long car rides! The only problem I have had with mine is that I sometimes have to adjust the front piece to get suction. I bought this item used though so I have no idea of its history.
Criticism: Is an expensive item. Buy only if you are going to use it.

You knew your baby would be beautiful. You knew you would love your newborn. But you had no idea just how much that little person would mean to you. You spend hours staring at her little face, fingers and toes. You derive so much pleasure watching him sleep.
You would absolutely love to spend every waking hour with your baby. Unfortunately, obligations necessitate the need for you to go back to work outside the home. Or you may have a career you’ve worked hard for and want to balance motherhood and career.
Here are a few options you can consider if you feel unprepared to return to work:
If you have the option of returning to your former employer inquire about working part time or telecommuting. With telecommuting you could work out of your home doing the same or similar position you did prior to your maternity leave. Of course if you were a server in a restaurant telecommuting would not work.
Perhaps you can change your hours to work around a spouse’s schedule. Some employers may allow you to work four ten-hour shifts. You won’t know if they are willing to work with you unless you ask.
Start looking for child care as soon as you know you will be returning to work. Ask friends with young children for referrals. While price and location are considerations they should not be top priority. You are hiring someone to care for your baby; therefore you will need to conduct in-home interviews to find the best provider.
Once you return home from your job outside the home your second shift begins – caring for baby, spouse and the house. That alone is a full time job. Add outside employment to the mix and you will begin to wonder if you will ever get an eight hour night of sleep again!
Don’t try to be Super Mom. Accept offers of help. If someone says “let me know if there is anything I can do” – then let them know. Have them come over for 2-3 hours so you can take a nap or a bath. Let them cut the grass, shovel the snow or take older children to events.
Balancing a career and a family can be quite an undertaking. However if you learn to pace yourself and accept aid from others, you will be much better off to parent your child.
